Who is responsible
VRAVIO Inc., a corporation registered in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, United States, is the data controller for this website and for the apps it publishes under the 8bit name. Our registered address and contact address are listed at the bottom of this page.
What this policy covers
It covers 8bit.center and all Android apps we publish on Google Play. An individual app may collect less than what is described here, and where an app collects anything additional, its store listing and its in-app notice say so before collection begins. Where the two differ, the app-specific notice governs that app.
Information from this website
This website has no accounts, no login and no advertising or tracking cookies. Our web server keeps standard access logs — IP address, timestamp, requested page, referrer and browser user agent — which we use to keep the site available and to investigate abuse. Logs are deleted after 90 days.
When you send us an enquiry through the contact form or the chat widget, we collect the name, email address and message you type, along with the type of enquiry, the language you used and the page you sent it from. We use this only to answer you. We record the moment you gave consent and the version of this policy you agreed to, so that we can show later what you were told. We do not store your IP address for enquiries — we keep a salted, one-way hash of it purely to limit spam and abuse, and it cannot be turned back into an address. Enquiries are deleted automatically 24 months after they are received, and sooner if you ask us to.
Information from our apps
Our apps use Google services rather than our own tracking infrastructure. Depending on the app, this means:
- Usage and diagnostics — through Google Analytics for Firebase: an app instance identifier, device model, operating system version, approximate region derived from IP, and the in-app events we define (for example, "file converted"). We use this to see which features are actually used and where people get stuck.
- Stability data — crash and error reports, including the technical stack trace and device state at the moment of the crash. Used only to fix defects.
- Advertising — through Google AdMob, where an app is ad-supported: your device's advertising identifier and coarse contextual data, used to deliver and cap ads and to detect fraud. Where the app shows ads, its store listing states it.
- Content you create in the app — notes, entries, files, settings — stays on your device unless the app explicitly offers a sync or backup feature and you turn it on.
- Support correspondence — anything you choose to send us when you ask for help.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under California law.
- We do not require an account to use an app unless the app's core function is impossible without one.
- We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, SMS or call logs unless the app's stated function requires it — in which case Android asks you first, and refusing only disables that feature.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Why we are allowed to process it
For users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, our legal bases are: legitimate interests for security, fraud prevention, and keeping our apps working and improving; consent for personalised advertising and any optional analytics, collected through Google's consent interface when the app first opens and withdrawable at any time in the app's settings; and legal obligation where we must retain records.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers that make the apps run: Google LLC (Firebase, AdMob, Google Play, and cloud infrastructure) and our web hosting provider. They process data on our instructions and under their own published terms. We also disclose information where we are legally required to, or to protect our rights, users or systems from harm.
We are a United States company and our servers and service providers are located in the United States. Data transferred from the EEA or the United Kingdom relies on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses as implemented by those providers.
How long we keep it
Website access logs: 90 days. Analytics and crash data: retained under our Firebase configuration, currently up to 14 months, then deleted or aggregated. Advertising identifiers: held by Google under its own retention rules. Enquiries sent through the contact form or chat: 24 months from receipt, then deleted automatically, or sooner on request.
Your choices and rights
You can reset or delete your advertising identifier at any time in Android under Settings › Privacy › Ads, which also lets you opt out of personalised advertising entirely. Uninstalling an app removes the data it stored on your device.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to object to or restrict its processing, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw consent. Residents of California additionally have the right to know, to delete, to correct, and to opt out of sale or sharing — we do neither. We will never treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
To make a request, email us. We answer within 30 days and may ask for information to confirm the request relates to your device or correspondence. Instructions specific to deletion are on our data deletion page.
Children
Our apps are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, write to us and we will delete it. Where an app is listed in a Google Play Families programme, its store listing says so and it follows the additional requirements of that programme.
Security
Traffic to this site and to our services is encrypted in transit. Access to analytics and store consoles is limited to the members of our team who need it and is protected by two-factor authentication. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affects your information we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we update the date at the top of this page. When a change materially affects how we handle your information, we announce it in the affected app before the change takes effect.
